Etrust Vs Norton

Hi when I got my laptop it had norton (its not enabled) But I also got E trust security, Im running Etrust but its kind of a pain and it runs 3 icons different things. Is the norton just as good and how do I safely switch
them

Any help would be great

My opinion michael and you can wait for a few others is Not to use either as Norton will only be atrial and then you'll have to pay for it. I'd unistall the Norton following this tutorial.

Then while your Etrust is active go here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic3616.html
and download one of these free Antivirus (I prefer AVG myself),install and update. Uninstall Etrust
Then I'd select a firewall ( I use Comodo)
Then I'd select Spybot - Search & Destroy,Spywareblaster,Spywareguard and SuperAntiSpyware from the Spyware Removal list

That's my opinion. It works for me on XP

I tend to dislike all-in-one applications because the functionality is uneven between security areas, and there are free and more focused applications available that provide extremely good security without being clunky, hard to uninstall, or tie oneself to one source.
My own choices echo those of Boopme, except I would include AVG's new anti-spyware application.

Hi thank you for your in put I've been trying to download AVG not having much luck I keep getting
a messsage saying there was a problem load new one but nothing seems to happen? am I doing
somthing wrong?

Is the message coming while downloading or installing?

When I install programs, I save them to a disk, a specific file on my computer, or a thumb drive.

I then disconnect from the internet, close down extra programs, and then install the new program.

Since you are installing a new AV program, you must be sure that all of your previous AV programs have been deactivated and uninstalled before installing the new one. With AV programs, this will always involve a reboot.
