I use Norton 2006 as my antivirus software and I have two questions:

 Is it possible to get Norton to ignore .mp3 and .jpg files while doing a full system scan? I have thousands of these files on my HD and I thought it would speed up the scan if it skipped these files.

:flowers: Is this a good idea? Can viruses attached themselves to existing .mp3 and .jpg files?

What I would like to do is have Norton ignore these files for my regular weekly full system scan and then run a complete scan once a month.

Thanks in advance.

What you can do is :

a) put all mp3's and other stuff you don't want to scan in 2 or 3 special folders and do a customized scan.
 Yes viruses can be hidden in these files

I'm not really familiar with Norton but I do know that you can exclude a folder, drive or partition from scanning in most AV's.
