If you still have that problem and need to reinstall and don't want to move to FF2.0, here is the only site I have found where you can get the older version. It has l.5.07 and then you could use updates to l.5.08.
http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=firefox

I am not changing to 2.0 as I like the l.5.08 and don't much care for the changes and addons in 2.0. As long as firefox supports l.5 I am going to stay with it.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Buddy215

Which changes about 2.0 don't you care for, buddy215.
There were several I also didn't care for, but with a little editing of about:config, I have it looking more like the older versions, which I liked better.

Probably the same things you didn't care for. Cookie options, Google antiphishing, etc. I know I can block the third party cookies with editing and block the antiphishing addon. There were other things discussed in one of the Firefox forums that also made me decide to just give them time to correct some things and for all the extensions to work properly. Really, I am satisfied with the version I have.
