they tend to download very slowly. i was wondering how hard exactly is my conection working to download the file. since the file can only be sent so fast, does that mean the reciever isnt using much bandwidth because it cant download any faster than the file is being recieved?

Hi.

I would say that it depends on how many files are moving at the same time. I have noticed that when I am having a burst, my bandwidth is fully utilised.
I have a nominal ADSL connection of 256Kb/s which tests out to 320Kb/s, i.e. 40KB/s max. I have kept the slower connection speed because it has a monthly cap of 40GB which suits my system - 3 other PCs on via wireless. Any faster and we would go over budget too easily.

Cheers
