Spent 1200 on the computer, in 2002.

I spent around 1000 when I built my first computer (using some parts from older computers and the same peripherals). Outside of WndowsXP and computer GAMES, all of my software is free or open source. I shudder to think how much I have spent, though, on games over the last four years.
Cheers,
John

Come to think of it I have bought several games for the computer.
Call of duty 2(played and resold to get money back)
Ago of empires 3
Empire earth(2 times got scratched and now again so it wont work) and expansion pack.
Star wars the old republic 1
I just play and resale most of the games.

I spend about €1000/year on hardware. Maybe €300/year on software.

I see alot of people use open-source... I couldn't imagine what life would be without open-source software... I'm a big user of Open Source too (OpenOffice, Firefox, Thunderbird, ect...) and maybe linux if I ever get a second computer...
