the only real problem with a PC is the game gets fragmented easy, when on CD it's impossible, thus it runs much smoother.
Consider then that you'll be installing games onto the hard-drive of the PS3 to help alleviate the painfully long loading times. Think of the GBs upon GBs of game data you can stick on a 50GB Blu-Ray disk, and then add a measly 9MB/s read speed.

Yes, I heard about that, it's redicilous, but at least we now have that kinda space. i remember back when 1MB was great space

I got one.... it is cool but I am disapointed it isn't really worth the money if you don't have an HDTV which I don't. Graphics are better but not by much unless you have it on an HDTV.

Also the 600$ one has 2 memory card slots for the PS1-2 games the other does not.

That's cool, what about a MSD slot? I heard there would be one, maybe my facts got mixed somewhere though

You lucky few who actually got one are, in fact, very few. Analyst: Sony Shipped Just 125K to 175K PS3s in North America

hi,
My friend in Hong Kong got his a while ago,
and he says that it gets really hot after a few hours of use.
The graphics card sucks as well...
Just stick to the tradidtional PS2, reliable, but bog standard, and cheap!

Well, since the thread got revived a bit, I got a PS3 the week before christmas and as a christmas gift, only had to pay half.

I just got Motorstorm this week and it's awsome even though there is a very limited number of available courses and more features will most likely be available through downloadable content eventually. Can't wait for Lair and Heavenly Sword in May and June. I'd also like to rent Oblivion soon, since I have it on the PC already, just to see how it looks. I'm also pretty excited for some Killzone 2 information (couldn't get into the first one though), Little Big Planet, and the upcoming Home service as well.

Did anyone miss Jack Tretton's big mouth?

Oh, and the follow up (Got to do with LittleBigPlanet and PS3 Home).

I got a Wii on Launch day - all the way back on November 19th. I waited 12 hours. Everyone in line was awesome and no one brought guns. I didn't have enough money to buy a game, but that was cool because it came with Wii Sports, so I was good for a few weeks. If I had bought a PS3, I wouldn't have had enough for rent, much less another game!
