I have recently gained help from this site to eliminate 3 spyware items - my problem was they were starting back up every time computer booted up - windows defender seemed to be the problem - i have now uninstalled this and reinstalled without a problem.
My question is, i have been running webroots spyware sweeper and it is now time to update my subscription. I am having doubts though as i think i might be covered - I need another opinion to my safety.
i have Adaware
A-squared free
spybot - seach and destroy
spyware blaster
zone alarm free
avast free
windows defender
your reply would be appreciated

I don't use any "pay for" programs. (It's against my religion.
)
In addition to what you have, I would recommend a couple of other programs:
AVG Anti-Spyware - Windows 2000 and XP, only
SpywareGuard - if you're using Internet Explorer
Firefox browser - if you're using Internet Explorer
With these programs, plus the one's you use, safe surfing/E-mail habits, and the occasional online scans (once a month), I have remained infection free, so far.
Online virus scanners:
BitDefender

Also this online Trojan scanner:
TrojanScan
