I'm celebrating the success of my first build, the parts were finally here by last Friday and I started assembling it Saturday afternoon and had it on line that evening.

I was well prepared but never the less was stumped for a while with a bad IDE cable which was new.

It's a modest build, but it's all I need for my purposes. :flowers:

Congratulations on a successful first time build! Be sure to check your drivers to make sure you are using the most current ones (I speak from experience).
Regards,
John

Yes those drivers can be a big pain if not the newest.
Congrats!

Congrats dc3,

See?... that wasn't so hard, was it? Keep it up and get to know it better.

One things for sure, you know you built it and you know it better than anyone. It's makes you feel like a child with a new toy, which in many cases, it'll be quite some time before you outgrow it.

Good Luck with it, and treat it right. We don't wanna see any HJT logs.

Thanks John and CGM, I will take time in a couple of days to check for the availability of newer drivers. Right now I thinkd that I'm just going to revel in the glory of my new toy. My greatest fear was what I had not anticipated, but with due diligence and good research I only had the one problem. Yeah...I lucked out.

Walkman, I use AVG, Spybot S&D, Adaware, Ewido, Asquared, and Zone Alarm for my firewall. I keep all of the definitions up to date, and run scans weekly. So far in the last two years since I've become involved with computers I've only had one serious infection, and that came from a program that a friend copied for me, and yes I have learned to scan free gifts. :flowers:

Hi dc3, just wanted to pass some congrats along. It si a fun thing. i've always assembled my own and made a lot of flubs on my first biuld. It was how I learned and in fact searching for answers to things I found BC... Hooray. Only recommendation I got is keep it updated as I'm sure you will. Good luck with your new baby !!
How do I get help? Who is helping me?
