I wish I was down that way... just to be home (Atlantic City, NJ)... to get me a nice cheese-stake sub.
uuummmmm.... cheese stake sub.. Philly, NJ and NY... have the best cheesestake subs in the USA. Darn.... why'd you have to go and do that?  It's so great back there on the east coast. I'm in Nashville, TN... for 13 years now. Why here? I've l've been born and raised in Atlantic City, I've lived in Brooklyn, in Pasaden CA, and other CA areas,,, and when I visited here... it was so slow.... compared to my list of living status, and I just wanted to settle down. That's all. I thought about moving back to NJ, but I really thought about it..... naahhhhhh. It's too boring, not much to do, and the laws have changed so bad, I'd be an outcast there anyway. But anyway... the pictures are great. I bet you had a great time. If I arrange it, could you send me a couple of cheesestake subs?.... My girlfriend likes Pastromi & cheese.  Man I miss those subs. There is a place here called Jersey Mike's, and they're the closest to NJ subs.... incase you're wondering,, the altitude here doesn't allow the REAL Italian Rolls to be baked here.  So, all sub rolls are imported here.Plus, growing up in AC, it's our tradition to fish for food (many of us do) heyyyyy, we live right on the coastline., and seafood is dirt-cheap there. On any givien day, I could fish and get me some flunder, crabs... clams?.... They are all flooded over the beaches. Just go down to the waterline on the beaches, and pickup what you want. Until I moved here.. .I didn't eat crabs... (rarely)... but I didn't eat clams. But they are are plentyful there. It's the same in NY too. Here?.... I pay $24 for a 1lb of King Crab Legs, that are frozen, in the box from a grocery store. Heeyyyyyy, I gotta have 'em. -------------------- Walkman

I remeber when I lived in VA some years back they didn't have MOZZY or Italian sausage. I ordered a sausage pizza and it came with breakfast sausage.  BTW all King Crab legs are immediately flash frozen on the ship. I just had them at my Mem day BBQ I do love them too. To make amends for my cruel pic above here's my recipe for making Cheese Steaks au NJ. You'll have to import some good bread tho' as it is key. You'll Love these Philadelphia Cheese Steak Sandwich .... Makes 4 servings 1 12-ounce boneless beef rib eye steak (only allowed to cheat with steak-ums if your in a real hurry) 2 tablespoons of soy or canola oil 2 medium onions, thinly sliced and separated into rings 4 oz. Medium or small mushrooms, thinly sliced 1 medium red or green sweet pepper, cut into thin strips (I like to add a heaping tablespoon of hot pepper rings at the end) 1 long French bread or 4 French rolls is OK 4-6 ounces thinly sliced cheddar cheese Partially freeze beef. Thinly slice beef across the grain into bite-size strips. In a 10-inch skillet Pour about two tablespoons of soy or canola oil on the cooking surface; add onions, peppers and mushrooms. Cover and cook over medium-low heat about 10 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally. Remove onion-pepper-mushroom mixture from skillet with a slotted spoon. If necessary, add additional oil to skillet. Add beef; cook and stir often over medium-high heat for 2 to 3 minutes or until done. To serve, spread rolls open face up on a baking sheet. Divide beef and onion-pepper-mushroom mixture among rolls. Top with cheese. Broil 4 to 5 inches from the heat for 1 to 2 minutes or until cheese is melted.(add Pepper rings here)A little salt and fresh ground pepper. Serve immediately. Thanks for the recipe. I'm definitely going to make it. But.. I'm going to make more than 4 servings.  Yeah... you bring back many fine memories. Darrrnnnnn. That picture... you just had to rub it in.. didn't you?  As far as Wildwood is concerned... I've been going there all my life. But it really got the Atlantic City business when the casinos started coming in, because in Atlantic City, they started closing down all the piers. We had: The Steel Pier - (Where the orginal and only Diving Horse was performed) I saw on The History Channel, that Harry Houdini performed there, I believe doing something with the diving horse.. something to that extent. The Million Dollar Pier - (Where they had the Ape Girl.. A woman in a cage,, beautiful as heck,, and all of a sudden, you'll see her slowly changing, getting more and more hair, and then she changes fully into an ape, and as she rattles on the bars to get out, she suddenly breaks out of the cage,,,,, then the curtains close, and the lights come on.... but during all that time..... people ran the heck out of there. People used to get trampled on. It was something amazing. Very amazing. The Garden Pier The New Steel Pier The Central Pier The Steeplechase Pier Every single one of those piers had rides. On the boardwalk, there were probably close to 100 game rooms alone. Atlantic City was big on fun. That's why it is coined as The World's Playground. I can't vouch for that now. I know many people don't realize this either, but the game Monopoly was based on the street names taken from Atlantic City, NJ. It says it in the game manual. All of those names on the Monopoly game board, (well,, 99%) are street names in Atlantic City. But my children and other family members still go to Wildwood,, often enough I may add. My son is coming here by Thanksgiving, and my daughter by Christmas, and on each runs to here.. I'm going to have subs, Italian rolls, crab legs, and whatever else I can think of bought up here. I gotta have 'em. Wildwood.... you really took me back to those days. Thanks, and I'll let you know how I do on the recipe. Yeah Walkman AC was the biggest thing in Joisey. Keeping with the thread
 the Stones played AC 2 nites before the Beacon. It was originally famous for it's Hotels and that's where it's back to,albeit differently. I go there to see some shows and dinners. I don't gamble, but like to pass thru the casinos. My daughter was in a serious car accident on the tollPike a few years back. She was choppered to AC Med ctr. As I was to stay there by her for a week Bally's Hotel (thanks again) gave me a room to stay in ,no charge. Actually maybe the most famous event was the Miss America Pageant that ran in AC from the 20's. It's different outside the casinos now The most famous boardwalk act of all time ran on Steel Pier for 49 years: the high-diving horse. Several times a day, a horse and its scantily-clad female rider would leap from a 60-foot tower into a pool of water. Amazingly, one of the riders -- Sonora Carver -- was blind. Her story was celebrated in the 1991 movie, "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken." Man I'd send ya some sandwiches if I thought they'd survive the trip.
