Please help me with what to do next. I have installed and run HJT and am posting the log file. I have Trend Micro internet security running, but I get so much spyware and find trojans on my system nearly every time I run it. What can I do from here?

Windows ServeAd

Windows ControlAd

REBOOT your machine and post a new log please.
Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?
Did you create them yet ?

Download System Security Suite here:
System Security Suite Download & Tutorial. Unzip it to your desktop.
Install the program. Don't use it yet.

Please print or copy these instructions because you are not able to access the Internet in SafeMode.

Make sure you are set to show hidden files and folders:
A. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
B. Click the View tab.
C. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.
D. Uncheck Hide extensions for known filetypes and Hide protected operating system files.
How to see hidden files in Windows

REBOOT into SafeMode by tapping F8 key repeatedly at bootup: Starting your computer in Safe mode

Run HijackThis!, press Scan, and put a check mark next to all these:

Close all other windows and browsers, and press the Fix Checked button.

Search for these files and delete them if found:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vngv.dll <-- this file

C:\WINDOWS\System32\ivhykbxx.exe <-- this file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\hgimyab.exe <-- this file

Delete these folders:
C:\Program Files\VVSN\ <-- this folder
C:\Program Files\Windows ServeAd\ <-- this folder

With all windows and browsers closed.
Clean out temporary and Temporary Internet Files.
A. Open System Security Suite.
B. In the Items to Clear tab thick:
- Internet Explorer (left pane): Cookies & Temporary files
- My Computer (right pane): Temporary files & Recycle Bin
Press the Clear Selected Items button.
Close the program.

REBOOT normally.

Run HijackThis! again and post a new log please.
Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?

Copy and paste the contents of the following quotebox into Notepad:

Save it as FindFile.bat and save it on your Desktop.

OK, navigate to the C:\WINDOWS\system32\ folder and look for a file: explorer.exe. Delete it. It is a bad file. The size of this file is 389,120 bytes.

Note there is a legitimate file with the same filename in the C:\WINDOWS\ folder. It is Windows Explorer. Do not delete this file.

If the file is not visible in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\ folder:

Copy the contents of the Quote Box below to Notepad.
Click File menu -> Save and name the file as unhide.reg
Change the Save as Type to All Files
Save this file on the desktop.

D. Uncheck Hide extensions for known filetypes and Hide protected operating system files.
How to see hidden files in Windows

Look for the bad file and delete it.

REBOOT and post a new hijackthis log please.

btw, I should note that I have 3 user accounts set up on this computer. All three are administrator level access. 1 is mine. My wife uses the other 2. Does this make a difference? Do I need to go back and do the above actions for each of the accounts?

Ok,...

DID IT! : O ) It wasn't as easy as it sounded. That file ended up being "Access Denied"... so I moved the file to my desktop and then used the TASKMGR and the command prompt ... I end processed Windows Explorer... with both of those open. Then, from the command prompt, I was finally able to delete that bugger. I hope that was the way to do it. I tried everything else I could think of but nothing worked.

The account that we have been working on so far, I will call LISA_M. Here is the HJT log, now that we have that ??plorer.exe removed.
