I've been using Movie Maker for a while and I have encountered this last week. When I open it, a window would pop up and say that A problem was encountered and needs to close down... You know that ones that ask if you want to send or not an error report. I'm sure a lot of you here are familiar with this. I tried System Restore and Defrag but still no luck. Any helpful suggestions are appreciated!

It's kinda urgent because I have a deadline to meet. Thanks!

The first thing I would try is reinstalling it. You can download it Here

The instructions says to keep the updates on, and I had. But I still haven't redownloaded the Movie Maker

Just click the "Download Now" button to download it. Then run the installer.

I have found the solution, and for those who are experiencing the same problem, here it is:

there seems to be a problem with a file called "qedit.dll". I also got problems coming from "qedit.dll" when I go to My Computer(RightClick)>Manage>SystemTools>EventViewer. So, I did a search on my computer for all qedit.dll files. I renamed the ones at C:\WINDOWS\system32 and the one at C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 to "tempqedit.dll".
