BleepingComputer.com: My Ie Wont Work!

My IE upgraded by itself to 6 now it wont work How do i downgrade it to 5.5

All I could find was a repair option. One site actually said that IE6 could not be installed on Windows95.

If you are using one of these versions of Windows then Internet Explorer 6 was not installed by default when you installed the operating system but rather from an upgrade. Since you upgraded to IE6 you have the advantage of having a repair tool that came with the installation.

To access this repair tool you should follow these steps:

Click on Start, then click on Settings, and then click on Control Panel.
Once the control panel window is open double-click on the Add/Remove Programs icon.
You will now see a screen that shows a listing of all installed programs on your computer. Scroll down till you see Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Tools.
Double-click this entry and a screen will appear asking what you would like to do.
Select the option to Repair Internet Explorer and press the OK button.
Then press the Yes key to begin the process.
When it is completed reboot your computer.
If this method is not successful, then you may have to reinstall your operating system or try an alternate browser.

It doesn't say that ie 6 is 1 of my programs

It is trying to open ie6 but i dont even have that program

So, What made you think you had IE6? The link below is for repairing IE 5.5. What problems are you having

When i open IE it says IE6 but never mind i found something called ie5install.exe

you cant install IE 6 on 95.

I know i cant install ie6 on 95 it is just triing to open it for a weird reason but i fixd it.

What was the fix?

i used the file named ie5install.exe
