In managing startup programs, I have heard from some high tech professionals that Using Window Defender, under tool, under software explorer, under startup programs is a better tool in controlling startup programs than msconfig. Primarily, Msconfig is more suited for diagnostic purpose. What is everyone's view on using Window Defender/software explorer in managing startup programs instead? Is it a better tool? Thank you. There are many different utilities available for managing startup applications, and these are to be preferred to using MSCONFIG. Startup Inspector is one such:

Also Spybot has a startup tool.
