In managing startup programs, I have heard from some high tech professionals that Using Window Defender, under tool, under software explorer, under startup programs is a better tool in controlling startup programs than msconfig. Primarily, Msconfig is more suited for diagnostic purpose. What is everyone's view on using Window Defender/software explorer in managing startup programs instead? Is it a better tool? Thank you. MGBY.

There are many different utilities available for managing startup applications, and these are to be preferred to using MSCONFIG. Startup Inspector is one such:

Also Spybot has a startup tool.

JOHN: I want to tell you THANK YOU for availing me to Inspector Startup. It is the ultimate tool in managing startup programs! It has helped me in resolving a long standing problem I had with unwanted entries at startup. Thank you for doing your level best for me!! Could not have done it without you!! It is a homerun indeed! Thanks. MGBY  .
