it happens sometimes rhat when I want to install a new program that mcafee notifies me that it is PUP potentially unwanted problem > my question is does this message necessarily mean it is a spyware or such of the kind or it is just so because mcafee doesnt recognize it . thank you in advance for your anticipated help

Potentially unwanted does not necessarily mean the file is malware or a bad program. It means it has the potential for being misused by others.
For example: Potentially unwanted tool:Application/Processor Not disinfected C:\Documents and Settings\Drew\Desktop\SmitfraudFix\Process.exe
process.exe is part of the smitfruad fix tool and detected by some antivirus programs as a "RiskTool", "Hacking tool, or "Potentially unwanted"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Anti-virus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
