Recomend Antivirus

Can someone recomend which antivirus is gd? I have ask my friends that i want to use AVG but he say AVG is not gd just because it was free. So i still in doubt which antivirus should i chose to install at my computer?

Not Free does not always mean or imply Not Good; this seems to be a hasty generalisation from your friend. In the case of AVG, which also has a paid version, the difference between the free and paid versions has nothing to do with basic functionality, which is the same for both. You will find many members here using AVGFree with good results.

Avast is a very good free AV. I have been using it for about a year now and it is very user friendly in my opinion.

I agree Avast Home Edition is real good for the price (free), I also use AVG Free on some computers here in my home network. Avast does offer to scan in the background when you set it as the screen saver. Other than that the two programs work equally well IMHO. See screen shot.

Top 3 Freeware:
1) Avast
2) AVG-free
3) Antivir-free
Antivir is a great AV

If you want to pay I recommend these:
Top 3:
1) Kaspersky
2) Nod32
3) Bullgard or Bitdefender

thanks for all the reply, i think i will browse through one by one the suggestion you give. And bear the screen shot you post for the background scan by using Avast Home Edition is cool.
