I wanted to post information about an issue I had after using the VirusBurst Automatic removal instructions.

Forum topic located here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic63896.html

After completing the removal process and launching Outlook 2003 on Windows XP I received an error stating that file mscoree.dll was missing and to try and reinstall MS Outlook.

After further research I discovered that the mscoree.dll file actually comes from the .NET framework.

What I did was reinstall .NET located here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en

Everything works great now.

FYI. in case some else has the same issue.

I have not heard of any similar reports. The instructions in the tutorial should not have deleted that file so it appears to have been a coincidence that you found it missing afterwards.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you resolved the problem.

I think I have a similar problem
when i run a Norton program integrity check I seem to have a missing msvcr.80.dll file missing that somehow got deleted during a registry clean up and or manual "poking around" to get rid of stuff episode.
How do I get it back? the link you gave showed different vesions of.NET software. ow do I determine wht I have and what I need to download.
Also, ever since I downloaded Norton software I keep getting errors in Internet explorer 6.0 saying it has to close.
I am not sure how toread the sppcompat.txt files that are associated so that I can pinpint the program(s) responsible.
I should have never messed with the registries.....live and learn I guess.
any help you can bestow upon me will be appreciated.
I am new to this site .
ou can reply n the site or to me directly icracku@hotmail.com.
Thanks,
Ifitisn'tonethingit'sanother!

To be honest I just guess which version of .Net I needed. You can always update to 1.1 etc. I think reinstalling that might fix your issue with the msvcr.80.dll file. Not sure whats going on with your IE though.
