Does a dual core processor running at 2Ghz mean that it's actually running at 4Ghz because it's dual core? -------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2Ghz skt 939 Msn K8N SLi-Fi 1.5Gb pc3200 400Mhz RAM 160Gb Maxtor SATA II Hard Drive Inno3d 6800Gt 256mb GDDR3 |

No. Think of it as two processors in the same package. It won't finnish one task twice as fast, but it can do two tasks at once.

So if you play games is it worth getting one?
Just to get this staright. If you have a dual core 2Ghz processor does that mean windows can clog up one core and you can run games a 2ghz on the other core? Yes, that is the reason I got a dual-core processor, although I got much more than windows clogging up the other core. If it is worth it as a gamer is a much harder and more speculative question. -------------------- "Anyone who cannot form a community with others, or who does not need to because he is self-sufficient [...] is either a beast or a god."
