I was installing a game and it wouldn't install completely because it said there was a music error. It said 'cyclic redundancy error'. What does that mean and how can I fix it?

Its a data error that won't let the game install completely.

I had the same issue with my copy.
Use a torrent site and download and ISO Image for the disk that is giving the error.

I believe you are speaking of "Sims 2" (Disk 4). After you find the file and burn it to a disk put it in in place of the disk giving you the error . It should load up without any more problems.

Sure even found it for you go here : http://www.mininova.org/search/?search=Sims+2+Disk+4

Which should show you this file : Sims 2 (only disk 4) for expansion packs 573.43 MB

Download and burn that.
