Your memory is running at PC2500. The reason it somewhere says PC3200 is because that is what the SPD chip on the memory module is reporting the memory to be rated at. The problem is that you are running at a memory divider of CPU/14. To get your memory running at correct speed you need a memory divider of CPU/11. It sounds like some overclocking left-over. Are you sure you've turned of all overclocking?

I don't think (but I'm not sure) I did (by my own) some overclocking. First of all I have to latest BIOS Update 1007.002. And I think that is the latest correct one for me, or not ? Second I loaded the default settings and after that the only things I have changed manually is: 1) AI overclocking fm AUTO changed to standard 2) AGP Aperture Size - 64 MB (I'm not sure but with 128 MB or more I get messages again it seems !!) 3) AGP 3.0 Calibration Cycle fm DISABLED to ENABLED 4) Bank Interleaving fm DISABLED to ENABLED 5) Burst Lenght I leaved it to 4 Beats (although I have read to it is better to set it to 8 (but I don't understand the meaning of it. 6) Onboard Promise Controller to DISABLED (because I don't use RAID) Because I changed option AI overclocking to STANDARD, you cannot change other things CPU Freq, CPU speed manually. So I really don't understand why memory divider of CPU/14 instead of CPU/11 and why memory is running at PC2500. Conclusion I don't have no idea where there is some overclocking left over ?? It's not (maybe) because of 4 strips of 512 MB (PC3200) (manufacturer = S3+) and my machine cannot handle them ?? I hope you can resolve this matter for me, because you can understand that if you spend some money for a nice PC (do I have a nice one by the way, do you think ?) you also want the best of it, right ? Maybe by the way I wrote it may seem I know a bit a about the bios settings. But I really don't know a lot about them. So I would really be grateful if you could tell me the best (and safest !) way to set up (manually) the correct speed.

There should be somewhere a possibility to change a setting named memory speed or memory clock or memory ratio or some such.

I changed it (memory configuration) into LIMIT. There I saw it was on Memclock Mode to CPU ratio 1:1. After I changed that to 2:1 DDR400 the program Everest recognized PC3200 ram. Is this right what I've done ?? Unfortunately several times again I have boot up problems. Especially with a cold boot (for example in the morning). Then it hangs ! After trying some times to switch on and off I manage to boot up and most of the times I get the message "System Failed Due to CPU overclocking". But I never overclocked !!! 2) I still have the feeling that some of my BIOS settings are not good. Maybe my Voltage settings (for my Athlon 64 3500+) are not correct. I've tried now a small program Central Brain Identifier (looks a little like CPU-Z) and it shows for example: Current Voltage : 1,134 Start-Up : 1,400 Minimum : 1,100 Max: 1,450 Last notation: Is it correct that my Radeon 9250 has GPU clock : 241 and memory clock: 200 ?? |

You mentioned that you've flashed the BIOS. Have you cleared the CMOs after that in case some wierd setting was left spooking around? There are instructions for doing so in the motherboard manual. After you would likely have to re-set all settings in BIOS, but it should flush out all wierd stuff.
The voltages do not seem strange if you have Cool & Quiet enabled. If you have, you could try turning it of and see if it helps. Who knows, maybe it is part of the problem. The clocks for the Radeon 9250 are OK. Onestly I don't remember if I cleared the CMOS (removing battery, changing jumper in position 2-3 for 5 seconds and the back to pos. 1-2) before or after flashing BIOS. I only remember (if I'm correct) that after flashing I got BAD Bios Cheksum and after that I had to change (in BIOS) DATE + TIME. For flashing I just had the (new) A8V.rom on floppy. Did I do something wrong or is it better to re-do it (with the same version 1017.002) ? I mean trying to re-update. Or is that not good or dangerous ?? You know....my PC is still under garancy. 2) Cool & Quiet is DISABLED I've tried it once (also installed the drivers and program), but because it didn't resolve anything I turned it off. 3) Is it normal that at start-up (the times it start up correctly...ha ha) I see BIOS version 1017.002, also programs like Everest recognized 1017.002 Build date 14/11/2005, but if you enter Main Menu in Bios you see AMI Bios Version : 08.00.09 Build Date : 14/11/05 It seems in Bios if date of the new version is correct but version name is different, or is this normal ? 1) It's not a BETA version. It was fm the official ASUS site (and there was nowhere written BETA)

Two things:
1017 is not a BETA, no, but 1017.002 is. It is BETA2 of 1017 and is what you posted earlier that you have. You should flash to the final 1017 BIOS if 1017.002 is what you have. You said Central Brain Identifier gave you a voltage of 1,134. I don't understand BETA2 of 1017. I downloaded it fm ASUS site and it seemed ok. But here the complete information what PC Wizard 2006 gave me: Manufacturer : American Megatrends Inc. Download the 1017 from ASUS site and flash to it. After that clear CMOS. The instructions are in your motherboard manual.
vCore and CPU voltage is the same thing, yes. The 3500+ has a vCore of 1.35 or 1.4 depending on which version. A small variation in vCore is not uncommon.
