Interesting Post, Deresolution. How can you believe in God, and as you said, not Jesus?
When your Dead, your Dead. You better believe it.Nothing has ever been proved, there is anything after Death.
Heaven, and all those nice things, are for People who fear Death,so it won't seem so terminal.
Just live a good and clean life, and be respected. I don't believe in the hereafter.

Ahh I think I worded my post wrong. I believe in Jesus but not all the stories like of him walking on water or turning water to whine because theirs no proof of that.

Define polite and thoughtful!

If I punch you in the face but don’t break your nose would you define that as polite of me? What if I held your head in a head lock so tight that the blood couldn’t get to your face and bleed out on your clothes would you consider that being thoughtful?

Sooner or later all religious conversations turn violent, I’ve never seen one that didn’t so I’m not going to promise anything but I’ll agree to try and keep it civil.

God help you if I fail because I have a low tolerance for the confused and unlearned!

Excuse me while I pray.

Yea, tho I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no evil! Because I am the meanest S.O.B. in the valley! Dear Lord, please give me the strength not to crush the heads of the biblically challenged and the mentally retarded but if I do please give me the wisdom to know how to hide the bodies from the monitor so I don’t get kicked off here!

AMEN!

OK, who can tell me when the first battle of the first war was fought and who was the commanding generals?

Or for you not hip to war types, tell me what happened in the Garden of Eden and in what form did sin come into the world.

Who thinks they have the answers?

Well in response to the Garden of Eden question i say, "That in the garden lived Adam and Eve. The first 2 humans created by God, the beings he didn't just think into existence but breathed life into. He told them not do eat of the tree of knowledge but of life, Satan saw this and new he had a way he might be able to tempt them into eating from the tree of knowledge. So he did, Eve ate from the tree and thought that the fruit was good so she gave it to Adam and he ate it. They then were ashamed of their nakedness and unfaithfulness. God came down and knowing what had happened asked them anyways. He then banished them from Eden and had an Angle with a flaming sword guard it forever."

Now for the form that sin came into the world, im not sure the exact meaning of that question. I dont believe that sin is some form of entity that it is just there. A name to categorize that which we do that is wrong.
Grace is given freely, but respect must be earned.

So….. Deresolution, you think Jesus was the son of God, the creator of all things? You believe he created the world and all the things in it? You believe he created the universe, and all the things in it with planets so big it boggles the mind? With distances between these planets so vast that even the imagination of man wants to deny it? But you think he can’t turn water into wine or walk on water? Nice logic!

Maybe it boggles your mind, and maybe your mind wants to deny it, but not mine. It's been a hoot.....

If there was one united religion the world might be a better place, however since humans have this fighting instinct inbred in them then I seriously doubt this would work. So what about having respect for other religions, nope, this doesn't work either as each religion believe their God to be the true God and all the while forgetting that there is only One God. So I wonder what God thinks of all this.... Oh, and then there are people who do not believe in God, well maybe this is because they believe themselves to be little gods. Then there are the people who do not believe in God because of all the terrible things PEOPLE do and somehow they blame all this on God. Well God gave us free choice to choose between right and wrong. Life is a lesson in order to grow and evolve, but most people are stuck in the material world.

I think most moderate religious people do respect each other. Its the fanatics and extremists that are a problem.I visit Manchester U.K.sometimes and am always saddened to see a mosque in Ashton with its windows put through by bricks.I am not a Muslim may I add but if we all respected each other a little more and not become bigots the world we live in would be a better place.Extremists of all religions are very dangerous. And I am sure their God would be ashamed of them.

I myself do not have a religion and I'm not even sure I would call myself an atheist. I have been taught of many different religions in the past and have come to the conclusion that they cause more harm than good. Having read the bible at school I seem to remember one of the commandments: Thou shalt not kill, but in one of the chapters of the old testament God states that "If you come across a village which worships another God then you are to kill every man, woman and child in that village including their cattle and then burn the village to the ground" Cannot remember what book chapter etc. Also, why does someone who is supposed to be so kind and forgiving damn you to an eternal suffering of flame and pain just because you simply do not beleive in them? Please don't flame me because these are just my views on the matter.

I beleive in what science has to say on the matter. Science is strange and so complex that it could easily prove the existence of God and ghosts but life and the universe(s) itself is(are) even stranger. String Theory for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzMEAkI-yrQ worth a watch if you do not understand String Theory.
I have a lot more to say on the matter but am tired and need bed lol :flowers:
Again please don't flame me for my views and contributions to the subject as they are merely my opinions and thoughts on for conversational purposes

@JCARegal We do not flame people for sharing their opinions. We sometimes get a bit condescending and snotty when people give opinions without substantiation, or try to spout facts without proper support, but all in all, we try to be respectful.

ok thanks, that's the way it should be  but over the internet i have found that people do get flamed for giving their opinion, even if they back it up with their evidence for that opinion. Also I was aware that i wrote that when it was very late and i was very tired yet WANTED to reply lol
and @ Cod Head, I totally agree with the extremists point you made- sorry i never noticed your post first time! :flowers:
