I'm a big fan of the "original two" as I like to call them.
They have been around for a long time and I trust them both. Thanks mate, those were actually the ones i was gonna get. 1 question. this wont do anything with my internet connection from my wireless will it? Cuz zonealarm did.

Zone Alarm is a firewall; neither Ad-AwareSE nor Spybot (unless you activitate its tea-timer real time protection) will interfere with your computer's operation or internet connexion since they do not have the same kind of functionality.
Both of these applications are very good, and one will find a slightly different set of spyware the other will not; having both, then, makes perfect sense, and these are perhaps the best of breed, as long as you keep their definitions current. No they won't
 .Zone alarm is a different kind of tool, it's a firewall. "A system designed to prevent unauthorized access to or from a private network. Firewalls can be implemented in both hardware and software, or a combination of both. Firewalls are frequently used to prevent unauthorized Internet users from accessing private networks connected to the Internet, especially intranets. All messages entering or leaving the intranet pass through the firewall, which examines each message and blocks those that do not meet the specified security criteria." Spybot and Adaware are antispyware tools and are responsible for removing harmful files from your computer. They don't monitor your internet connection/block incoming connections etc, so you should be fine there. Can SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard be run together, or do they conflict? Some people on this thread have both on their system.
I will be setting up security for a new laptop, and also for an older laptop that have undergone a clean install. Both will have a wireless connection to a router. I'm trying to figure out the optimal possible combination of free download security programs, and BleepingComputer tutorials and forums have been extremely helpful, but I want to avoid program conflicts/redundencies. |

You can run them both with no problems. They're both made by the same people. I had problems with Spy Sweeper along with many others, went looking for some program to takes it's place , along with spywareblaster, ad-aware and spy-bot, found a new toy.
Doesn't slowdown my start-up or shutdown, works great so far. using the pro version. |

I've got Edwido free version, Spybot, spywareguard, spywareblaster, Ad-Alarm SE with Ad-Watch and ZoneAlarm security suite. Would this SUPERAntiSpyware be a redundancy on my system or a good addition as an on demand product? Same question for A-Squared free.

I am running Webroot SpySweeper on my computer now and I want to keep it. I would like to add more spyware protection. I have Spybot S&D and I have some spyware proection on my Pc-Cillin AV. I had Ad Aware but it stopped updating and only scans about 1500 files and stops. What would be a good free anti-spyware to use? I want to keep the SpySweeper running at all times. Will another spyware program interfere with my SpySweeper? If so, is there one that I can set up to run manually such as spybot s&d and like ad-aware, before ad-aware started screwing up? Thanks.....socom.

For spyware real-time protection, you'll only want one running. But you can have as many on-demand stand-alone spyware checkers as you want as each program has a different set of rules of what spyware is. Edwido free version is a good on-demand product. You can find the download link and directions for using it here.
