For antivirus scanners, you could switch to either the free scanners Avast, AVG, or Avira's AntiVir. Professionally, BitDefender, Kaspersky, and NOD32 are the best, and you could temporarily use their free trials. Norton, although slow and somewhat irritating to use, is one of the best scanners there is, and unless yiou switch to another 'professional' grade product, you will probably be even worse off then before. Also, NIS integrates (I think) antispyware and firewall functions as well, and products like Spybot SD, Ad-Aware SE Personal, Zonealarm Firewall, or Kerio Firewall could be used to replace those functions as well.
