Get another monitor, either a spare you have around the house or borrow from a friend etc., and try that. See if the problem persists. That will help narrow down where the problem lies.

I know it's not the monitor bcuz the orig. monitor I had on my computer works fine and after I bought a new one (wanted a bigger lcd screen) last year the problem is still there, could it be the video card?
the computer I built my dad is a 3000+ AMD Athlon, can I try to see if his video card can work on mine and see if thats the problem? |
