hi
I have been trying out linux for a very little while . Have tried a couple of LIVE CD's and currently have Lindows 4.5.122 on my PII.[dual boot Win XP Pro] I really wud like to run winmx 3.31 with this distro [or any other]. I know I need wine to do so and I know there is a folder called wine in my files for Lindows. I have typed wine into console and wine seems to run but states it needs winesetup to operate. In my limited knowlwdge i have found out that Lindows is a Debian Based distro. I have downloaded this winesetuptk.deb from debian, but have no clue how to run[load?] it , as my knowledge of debian is NIL. The instructions at the debian site do not seem to be specifically for Lindows. WineHQ does not have a setup for wine specifically for Lindows. Can I take any winesetuptk and run it in Lindows? Or does it have to be debian? Is this too complicated a feat for a newbie? If not, how wud I go about it?

My other million ?'s will come in time I am sure [lol]

Actually, Lindows is based on the WINE project. Most of the Windows APIs should be running under WINE already. Check the documentation on how to install tha program with WINE running already.

Why not use LimeWire? Seems like you're going through a lot of work to do something so easy.FWIW the only thing wine ever did was let me play solitaire.I have never again tried to make a Windows program run in Linux. It's too easy to find the same program already for Linux.
