That would be a daunting list to say the least and would vary on every single machine.
Maybe a little easier to remember and most commonly used:

Every .exe file can be launched via Start>Run. (.exe)

Any control panel item (.cpl)

access.cpl: Accessibility controls
appwiz.cpl: Add/Remove Programs
desk.cpl: Display properties
hdwwiz.cpl: Add hardware
inetcpl.cpl: Configure Internet Explorer and Internet properties
intl.cpl: Regional settings
joy.cpl: Game controllers
main.cpl: Mouse properties and settings
main.cpl,@1: Keyboard properties
mmsys.cpl: Sounds and Audio
ncpa.cpl: Network properties
nusrmgr.cpl: User accounts
powercfg.cpl: Power configuration
sysdm.cpl: System properties General
telephon.cpl: Phone and modem options
timedate.cpl: Date and time

Management consoles (.msc)

ciadv.msc: Indexing Service
compmgmt.msc: Computer Management Console
devmgmt.msc: Device Manager
dfrg.msc: Disk Defragmenter
diskmgmt.msc: Disk Management
gpedit.msc: Group Policy Editor. (XP Pro)
services.msc: services

I ran across a link to a site that has just what you're looking for. It started at 99 items that can be stated from the Run box and is now up to 156.

windowsxp550's 156 Useful Run Commands

Includes some third party software that might not be obvious. One I am rather surprised to see is:

shutdown

QUOTE

True, you just need to know the name of the main executable file, as HitSquad pointed out. With all the software out there there is well over 156, so the Windows commands and those of the most common software is the most useful.

And the most important in my opinion:

cmd.exe

Gets you to the command prompt.

And once you get to the command line, here are some basic commands that are helpful to a newb like me:

Command Line List and Reference

nosnhoj#3 has already posted the definitive list from MS for those more advanced, but here it is again:

Command-line reference A-Z

You can also create your own start > run commands...

For example, I have a program called Spywareblaster. The executable is located in C:\Program Files\SpywareBlaster\spywareblaster.exe

So, to create the start > run command for spywareblaster, you have to create next regfile and merge it:

CODE
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\spywareblaster.EXE]
@="C:\\Program Files\\SpywareBlaster\\spywareblaster.exe"

When you enter spywareblaster in start > run, it will open spywareblaster now.
You can create this for every app.

For further clarification for what Miekies code does above:

QUOTE
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\spywareblaster.EXE]

Using the App Paths registry key you can set the specific path to certain applications that are not part of your %Path% variable. So without the registry hack above, if you type Start|Run|spywareblaster.exe it would not be able to find the program as it is not in the path.

When you specify a specific app path like above (pointing an exe to a specific location) you can now use it in the Run command.

One of my favorites and has many many uses is the subst command. This command stems from the DOS days and allows you to take any directory and make it a virtual drive letter.

This is very useful when playing older dos games. The command is:

subst <drive letter> <directory>

So to make the C:\wibble directory correspond to the drive F: you would type:

subst N: c:\wibble

To see what files are being substed you can type subst by itself like:

subst

To delete the virtual drive you would type:

subst n: /d

I had a list (but can't find it now) that had the syntax to open up the different tabs in Control Panel...System without having to click on them.

But, by then the syntax got too confusing to use - so I abandoned it.

Aha! I remembered where it is! It's sitting on my desk! It's on my old hard drive that crashed a while back and I can't recover anything from it!

The basic console commands, incorporated into the shell itself can be found by typing help at the command prompt.
