Hi Shaleen:
When I do this in Windows 2000 I get the message:
msconfig.exe is not a valid Win 32 application
Given this, is it safe to copy it into Win2K and where should it go?
Cheers,

and save this file into C:\WINNT (to do so, please go to My computer --> C Drive --> Winnt).
Restart your PC.
Let me know.

I'm not the one who wants to do it. It was kalebbro who was concerned about msconfig.
From what I've read at this site, I get the impression that CODESTUFF STARTER can do whatever msconfig does and maybe even more. That's the program I use, and you'll find details at my Post #5 at:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...mp;#entry388015
What actually does msconfig.exe do anyway? If CODESTUFF can do the same job I evidently don't need msconfig.
Cheers,
scratcher.

msconfig - Built into Windows 98, 98SE, ME, and XP, MSCONFIG or the Microsoft System Configuration Utility is a tool designed to help you troubleshoot problems with your computer. MSCONFIG allows you to edit your start-up applications and provides access to the SYSTEM.INI, WIN.INI, amd BOOT.INI files.
msconfig was not included as part of Windows 2000.
A lot of people use it as a start-up manager, which was not what it was intended for.
Third party apps work much better for that.
If you have Spybot installed, it has a built in start-up manager. (Tools / System Startup)

Suspicions confirmed.
Thank you.
