I am just wondering if any of you out there have installed Windows Vista BETA, on a computer below the minimum requirements...?


Dell :huh:
Demension 1100 :)
Celeron 2.53GHz :huh:
256 RAM B)
90 something shared VRAM (Intel Unextreme G 2) :huh:


PS: Dont give a $#!T about AERO GLASS effect. :huh:

Most probably it will, but without AERO. I would certainly suggest, though, that you double the amount of RAM you have, even if you stick with XP. Each newer version of windows takes up more and more memory just to function, and the added memory will significantly improve your computer's performance.

got to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/ and then navigate to to "get ready" and download the windows vista upgrade advisor it will tell you what needs to be upgraded when you install vista

Well... here it is.

I downloaded partition magic and shrunk my only partition from 70 to 30 Gigs. Then formatted the other from XP. Booted off of the Vista DVD and installed in under an hour.
Installation went through without any problems.
Only needed drivers for my dial up modem and Intel "Extreme" G...

Long story short... The minimum requirements posted by Microsoft are not the true minimum requirements, just recommended.

:After the automatic indexing and defragging of the drives had run... it worked smooth as glass... except no AERO Glass.

Hope this helps anyone who is debating to put it on their computer

PS: Got a Gig of RAM @ 400MHz on ebay for 60 bucks... its really going to help.

The installer on Windows Vista RC1 will NOT let you install if you have less than 512MB of RAM. Tried and tested with no luck.

i tried that aswell and it said i needed 512mb of memory,so since i have 256 and my dad had 256 also i just stuck his ram in my computer while i was installing vista and after i got it installed i took out my dads ram and everything runs fine but it was slow the first day of having vista on my computer.but its accually pretty fast now.

Don't forget to adjust your video settings and performance options (similar to XP) in order to get it to work a bit faster.
