Welcome to Bleeping Computer, a free community where people like yourself come together to discuss and learn how to use their computers. Using the site is easy and fun. As a guest, you can browse and view the various discussions in the forums, but can not create a new topic or reply to an existing one unless you are logged in. Other benefits of registering an account are subscribing to topics and forums, creating a blog, and having no ads shown anywhere on the site. When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix logs. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.
To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

What OS (Win XP/2000, etc) are you using? Have you performed any anti-spyware scans? What type of anti-virus are you using and when was the last time you ran a scan?
If not, start here: If your running Win XP/2000, download and scan with Ewido Anti-Malware v3.5 Ewido Install and Scan Instructions Download and scan with Ad-Aware SE Personal. Setup & Configure as shown here. Download and scan with Spybot S&D 1.4. Setup & Configure as shown here. [DO NOT choose the option to install TeaTimer] Note: If you encounter any error messages while downloading the updates, manually download them from here. Perform these online Virus scans: [Watch the Address bar in IE. You may receive alerts that "This site might require the following ActiveX control...Click here to install...". Click on that alert and then Click Install ActiveX component.] Trend Micro Housecall Scan Panda ActiveScan [ActiveScan Panda does not remove adware/spyware but will autoclean for viruses & worms.] -------------------- "THE BAD GUYS DON'T NEED A SEARCH WARRANT. I'm pretty sure that what you are talking about is completey safe, so before you run any of those scans let me know if these 7 dots look like this:
![]() If that's the one you are talking about it is safe and is a feature of Windows. To remove it, just right click on the dots and click " lock the taskbar". That should remove it. David |

Hehe...
I looked at the question and thought it must be some sort of hijack, then I went to press my own start button to open another program and I realised that that funny squiggle might be what angelina was talking about! A little picture really does help doesn't it! David |
