can you please tell me if it is possible to change the format of a file. for example ive downloaded from a music site a file. it should be an album and it requires me to unzip it. ive unzipped it but now the file will not play on my media player. it just states that this file format is not supported??

Is there any way to change this file format to mp3 format, im sure this can be done as i pressume this file has been played on other peoples players i.e from whom ive donloaded it from??

What format is the file now? Perhaps you just need a pulgin for your media player.

it opens with winzip and its file format is ACE?

Try this quick converson trick.

Right-click the file, select copy, and rename the copy to music.mp3. See if any of your players can read the file.

.ace is a file compression format similar to but not the same as .zip. Is winzip able to actually extract the file?

If not, you may want to try IZArc available here.

i tried the first method of copying the file and re-naming it to a mp3 format. this changed the file format of the file but none of my media players will allow it to be played as they still dont recognise it as mp3format.???????

i could not use the second suggestion because the site where you download it from excludes Ireland from Europe, what kind of idiot set that site up??

Try going to www.dvdrhelp.com

You can convert to any file type here.
Just type in the "search our entire site" box the file you want to convert and then what you want to convert it to - I.E. wav to mpeg.
Ofcourse you will have to unzip your file first.
