I was wondering, waht programms whould be best to use to be secure? Im currently using zone alarm free and avg. I could get norton, but a friend says, that it focuses more on stoping it from getting on the comp rather than destroying it..
So what combo would be best? I also use spybot, ad-aware..

P.S.

Can i steal your smileys and put em on my forum? They are too cool :flowers:

Steal away on the smileys. ZA Free and AVG are excellent choices. You should also install spybot and its teatimer app as well as adaware and run them both once a week.

Also install spywareblaster, update it, and have it protect everything

You have a good AV, and a good firewall. That is important.
And you have two very good spyware programs installed.
Keep all these up-to-date, and you will have done as much as possible to keep your system clean. Using these, and using some good judgement should be all that you need.

John

good to hear from you, justy. I'd add A2 (A squared) if ever you want another anti-malware that doesn't conflict with any of the above. Enjoy your online games... and I love those smilies, too. They're the best. :thumbsup:post here about A2

and something else that nobody else mentioned... to stop
lots of the adware/spyware junk from getting on your
machine is to use mozilla's firefox as your browser...
Mozilla's homepage... and where to download Firefox!!!

happy security!

--rex, I happen to agree with you. I wouldn't visit half the sites I do in searchin' for answers to the HJT log riddles without it... I swear I'd be spendin' way too much time runnin' every other anti-malware program I have on a daily basis if I did in IE. Even the way it is now, fully patched, SP2 & configured well. Firefox works for me.

Firefox is cool, the best browser out there.

Other free AV alternatives are AntiVir and Avast.
