If you are doing you taxes online. I recommend that you download the software or purchase it at a store. Using the cheaper "online' version is VERY risky. No so much the actual use,although that is up to your PC security, but think about that info. You've just left some very personal info on someones machine somewhere. Yes probably out of the country, there is a drive containing your sensitive data. They're not going to erase it and in fact will sell it. Next few months you will be receiving many financial offers thru various mediums. More important tho is the security of that info bouncing around out there. ID thieves love that stuff. It's sensitve data and it is being treated like a product for sale. They obiously aren't looking out for you, SO YOU MUST.
You really don't want to have to deal with the horror of ID theft.

The other side of the new rules is that any tax preparer must TELL you that your information may be sold and you must sign an acknowledgement/permission form before they can divulge it.
If our government really wanted to make itself useful to the people it is supposed to serve, they would have their own software and secure on-line filing site, rather than rely on outsourcing the whole thing to second parties.
