From dell...yea i kno ive no personality but its quick and easy I have been told here before that the AVG virus protector is good, and ive taken that advice and i use it on my desktop. The thing is...Ididnt pay for any antivirus, spamblocker.firewall type products from dell so the computer is completly unprotected... What protection do i need to get to keep the laptop safe...if i have to buy it i will but if there is freen non commersial products available, i of course would prefer them As always thanks Sleepydog. -------------------- Please smile, and try not to take life sooooo seriously. My opinion is that she is misinformed.
But she is allowed of course to have her own personal opinion. Many of Bleeping Computers members are security experts, and I listen and learn from them. I have known these members for quite some time and would most certainly value their opinion over MS anyday. The free programs we recommend here are proven and tested to be just as good as commercial ones. And not just by members of Bleeping Computer. This is a free site so recommending free programs fits right in with BC's entire concept. -------------------- ![]() |

I trust the BC experts more than MS, who don't think ahead and release half-finished products with more security holes than Dunkin Donuts. I am currently using some of the programs recommended by BC, as posted by acklan. I am very pleased with them, and I would recommend them to my friends. -------------------- ![]() Which Final Fantasy Character Are You? Don't be so quick to down prebuilt computers (Dell, emachine, Gateway, HP, Compaq,..). While true you can buid a better computer for the money, these computer fill and preform a rerquirement is the computer world. I personal have over a dozen Dells (GX1, GX1p,) setup at my home. Everyone is a '97-'99 retired corporate computer. While not top of the line they have fill the niche I aquired them for, namely My families needs. If I were to upgrade these computers I would by Dell canned solution in a heartbeat. As a matter of fact I will be buying My three kids Dells for Christmas.

Who is going to build their own laptop? hehe Maybe I am misinformed. LOL But I use many of the products listed in acklan's reply. I trust the ones I see other security expets recommending or using themselves. I myself would not put MSAS betas on any machine I had.. especially if I was to buy a new laptop. I have a Dell PC and it has been a very lovely machine for me.
