Maybe MS would be far better to ditch the millions of lines of bloated code, patched into legacy modules, and just start completely over, take their time and include the new file system, and deliver a really first rate product. Even though it might cut into their profits for a year or two. in the long run, MS and---too bad they don't think of this first---its customers might profit.

I read that linked article 3 times, and no where did I see a remark to substantiate the 60% code rewrite. Also the article had a misspelling, which casts more doubt about it's authenticty to me. "In an effort to meet a deadline of the 2007 CES show in Las Vegas" The correction is in red. Just another case of MS bashing IMHO.
