If it sounds like a police car siren it will be cpu problem, so either it is dead or the board just doesn't seem to read the cpu. really something to be alarmed about ;P
best thing to do would be to check on asus's site for supported processors or latest bios updates Regards Futs This post has been edited by Futs: Nov 12 2004, 09:42 AM -------------------- ![]() |

the only time I've heard sirens on my PC it was a crummy anti-spyware program I promptly uninstalled.
QUOTE Needless to say the PC doesn't boot. This is something that would trouble me. too. I once had to check, for my own sake, exactly what happens when you turn the power on. There is a definate sequence of events involved in the Power On Self Test (POST) that will indeed prevent booting if there is a problem such as you describe. thread here at BC, check for a link within itEDIT: That thread is long & ramblin' better yet check here This post has been edited by phawgg: Nov 12 2004, 02:48 PM -------------------- patiently patrolling, plenty of persisant pests n' problems ...

When I have sounds coming from my mobo, I try to eliminate as many possible problems.
Remove the video and sound cards. Remove all of the RAM, except for one in slot 0. Try it with this configuration. I will see if I can provide a link to your mobo later today. Everything does seem to be pointing to the CPU slot though. Good luck -------------------- We are all curious like a cat. We wonder, we ask, we learn.
