Format String Bug

DOes anyone know anything about a thing called a format string bug? In an old game I play called IGI2
Covert Strike which by the way is the best FPS ever made IMO except for the net coding its awsome! Anyway someone is using this exploit to send bad strings to all the dedicated servers we play on causing them not to be accessible! Supposedly you can debugg it somehow to stop it but I have no clue what that means! Any help would be appreciated! :thumbsup:

RCON commands are used by admins to administer their servers
remotely. This function exists in both dedicated and normal servers and
cannot be disabled.

No fix.

Apparently this game has died and I couldn't find anything like a forum or
discussion to fix the problem.
