How to Create a Compressed Folder

Guide Overview

The purpose of this guide is to teach you how to create a compressed folder. The files inside this folder will be compressed in size. This method is useful for E-mailing multiple files as attachments.

How to Create a Compressed Folder

Tools Needed
  • No tools needed.
Instructions
  • Please open the folder that you wish to compress.
  • In the top left hand corner of the window click 'file'
  • Click 'new'
  • Click 'Compressed (zipped) folder'
  • A folder will appear in the Window that looks like this:

  • The folder will have a temporary name. Right click on the folder.
  • Click the 'rename' and replace the temporary name with an appropriate one.
  • Then, drag the files you wish to compress, on top of the compressed folder icon.
  • Windows will add a copy of the file to the folder. The original file will remain.
:huh: You can open the files in a compressed folder as you would open any file on your computer. You cannot make changes to the files within the compressed folder.
