Whenever I start my system, the sound being played is chopped to pieces by some other unknown service or application.
I would like to know how I can troubleshoot/fix this.
My system appears to be working in all other aspects though.
1GB memory, Pentium 4, 1.8GHz, plenty of free disk space.
Appreciate any useful feedback.
Thank you.

Is this a booting sound, system sound or when windows is fully loaded?

It is the sound Windows XP plays on start-up, immediately after logging in. You could call it its "theme" sound.

Problem solved.
Found Acronis TIH scheduler and non-stop backup were stepping on the normal startup process. Disabling both solved the problem.
