When I open my Windows folder, I see all these files "uninstall K------". Is it imperative that I keep these update files? If I delete them will my updates also be uninstalled? Thanks in advance.

You should leave those alone.

My suggestion is when you will delete Windows files: Make a system backup, if you get after deleting, troubles, than can you restore your system.
If you don't make a system backup and you delete Windows files, than is the possibility there, that you say after the incident: :ranting:, what have I done.
So make a system backup what I did tell.

<<If I delete them will my updates also be uninstalled?>>

What Broni said.

Are you pressed for hard drive space?

I'd like to see the full name of one of those files, but my guess is that they are Windows Update / hotfix uninstall files. If, after installing Windows Updates, your system does not have any problems for a period of time (weeks) you may safely delete those files. After doing so, you can then delete the entries from ADD / REMOVE

wiskerluv - again, before doing anything please post the EXACT name of one or more of the files - I want to be 100% certain we are talking about these hotfixes.

You can delete files and also the Windows updates, but I told it earlier, make a system backup, if there is a problem, than can you fix the problem.
Delete files from Windows without made a system backup, is the stupid handling what you can to do.
I am sorry for my last remarkable, but it is 100 percent true.
Why should you take a risk with deleting files without a system backup and after the handling, you are in the Monkey Room.
:killcomp: This is maybe what you does if you make not a system backup and delete the files.

good suggestion, if you were to have deleted windows file by mistake ,that not likely to happen in this case as the original poster already asked if it was safe to delete these windows file ,and was wisely told not to delete them ,so he/she should be safe .

Many many years ago, I was experiments with deleting Windows files and updates and after my handling was I after reboot my system in trouble.
Thanks heaven was I smart for make backups of my important files, so I could fix my system with the system recovery cd and the problem was solved, but for the same was I with my thinking in another world and I had than a big problem.
After the incident what I had for many years ago, said I to myself, I was lucky, but it is wise that you make a system backup for the case that........ .
Indeed, my recovery cd could also be broken, if that was the case, than had I say to myself: :ranting:
So it is better that you make backups of the system than take a risk, that you can't fix the system with the system recovery cd.
When you make a system backup with an advanged Backup program or the built in Backup program on your ext. HD., than are you safe.
When the user works safely with the ext. HD., is it not needed that the user must make his\her worry about the ext. HD.
