An earthquake hits the Philippines

A shocking and unusual calamity (earthquake) hit Philippines and according to the news, there were like 7 individuals died. My prayer is with their families. Some parts of Visayan region (Negros and Cebu) experienced 3 aftershocks with the 6.9 magnitude. Classes and office works have been suspended and alert level 2 for Tsunami was declared by PHIVOLCS. According to them, Tsunami will probably hit the east Coast of Negros and West Coast of Cebu province. People were advised to evacuate to a higher ground for their safety but the alert has been canceled that day (thanks GOD).

I can't take that belief of yours away from you but if we'll scrutinize what happened scientifically, it's the shaking and vibration at the surface of the earth resulting from underground movement along a fault plane of from. It's also caused by a Volcanic erruption underwater.

I'm wondering on how the surface of the earth vibrates and shakes if the Earth itselft only revolves on its axis. I am referring to earthquake after-shocks even though there's no Volcanic Erruption.
