When I start my laptop running Windows XP I receive a message advising that Power Shells cannot be created. No further explanation is offered and it is not a consistent message I receive. I may or may not receive it when I start up. No problems when I "x" out of it. I proceed online and everything seems normal. Recently I have also received messages referring to Scripts. The message is " Windows Internet Explorer
Stop running this script ?
A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer might become unresponsive. [yes] [no] "
This seems to only appear when I am on Facebook and especially when running the game FarmVille.
From what I understand, a script has something to do with computer programming; as in someone was trying to compose a program. I do have Remote Assistance but to the best of my knowledge no one has accessed my computer. I do have MSN security which I run faithfully once per day. I am aware that there are a few Facebook viruses out there and so far my security system has not indicated that I have been compromised. I have 82% availability on my hard drive. I do not disconnect my Firewall. I considered submitting a question to remote assistance for help with this but they want me to download & allow MSN Messenger and I refuse to do that. Had very bad experience with that in the past and have heard I am not alone in that respect.
What do I need to do to remove these interruptions ? What is the function of a Power Shell ? How concerned do I need to be with any of this in regards to function and security ? Is it doing harm to my laptop or is it simply being a nuisance ? If I do nothing will this progress into deeper, more serious problems ?
What happened so that I am having this problem ? From what I can tell it is my system not a change to Facebook or Zynga etc.
Thank you for any and all help and feedback provided. When you offer a suggestion, please explain carefully & in detail so I can follow. One friend suggested that the fix was to remove Internet Explorer and then reinstall but I do not know how that would help. I do not have any software to reinstall IE

Edit: Moved topic from Introductions to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

I still need help with this issue. The script pop up is happening much more frequently. Often there is a lag without the system allowing a response or keystrokes, freezing up and then the pop up appears. I see that this has had over 100 views, is it possible that no one knows how to help with this ? Am I not sharing enough info ? Please feel free to ask if it would help resolve this.

Download Autoruns for Windows: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx

No installation required.

Simply unzip Autoruns.zip file, and double click on autoruns.exe file to run the program.

Go File>Save, and save it as AutoRuns.txt file to know location.

You must select Text from drop-down menu as a file type:

Attach the file to your next reply.

I would remove the Ask Tool Bar, and see if it still happens.

The Ask toolbar may be an entry in Add/Remove Programs...you may be able to uninstall it there.
