Now, the system has some issues that I can't seem to fix.
1: On bootup, it loads a text file called "desktop.ini" that has the contents:
[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787
2: In the file explorer, some files and folders are hidden, no matter what I do. Namely, I store lots of docs and xls files in a folder C:\mylastname\*.* The files are there, as I can see them in the libraries, but they refuse to show up.
- I have obviously changed the settings- organize/folder and search options/view/"show hidden files/folders, and drives"
- I have checked the registry settings in .../software/microsoft/explorer/ to make sure that there is nothing strange about them.
3: I have run malwarebytes anti-malware, mcafee, and microsoft security essentials, and there are no viruses found at this time.
How do I get my windows explorer to behave properly again?
