I got a copy of this game for my girlfriend. When she starts up the game it tells her the game will not save unless she has a gamer profile. To create a gamer profile she's supposed to press the Home key, but doing so does nothing. We've tried several other keys, and nothing seems to bring anything up to create a gamer profile.

So we googled for a while, and found and tried a few fixes. Some actually seem to prevent the game from working.

We tried this: http://soupbo.com/gaming/2010/12/viva-pinata-cant-save-the-game-fixed/

And it didn't work, then we tried this: http://www.ehow.com/how_12146368_game-profile-viva-pinata.html

Now the game won't even start.

What error have we made, how can we fix it, and what do we need to do to resolve the issue?

She's on Windows 7, also.

Have you tried running the game as an administrator (right click the executable file, click run as administrator, type in password if necessary when the prompt appears. Then go through with the fixes you found. If that doesnt work, you can also try running it in compatibility mode for an earlier version of windows such as vista or XP by right clicking the executable file, go to properties, and compatiblity, and choose which windows you want to run it as, then apply, and proceed with said fixes.
