hello,
i have a laptop dell insipiron 1764 (17.3 inch). i was carrying it (the power was on) and i dropped it. after the drop, it turned off.. i tryied to turn it on but now i have a black screen (not totally black, i see the light of the screen but nothing appear). i can hear the fan, i can hear the "music" of windows (which should be the log in page), but nothing on the screen.
any idea? is it because of my screen? or my mother board?
tks for any hint.

The first test is to hook up an external monitor and then turn on the laptop. If the laptop is working then the external monitor should show instead of the internal screen.
There is also a function key that gets used with the F keys on the top of the keyboard. One of them also toggles between, Internal screen, External Screen, Or both displays active.

If that is OK there are more tests to do.
If that has no display then something different to test.
