My kids inherited a Dell Dimension L550r. It is in really good shape and all they are going to use it for is word processing. I was able to download a driver for my newer dell monitor onto a cd so that the "new" dell tower could use it, but I tried to download a driver from Linksys for the usb adapter and when I installed the cd nothing showed up. Our family is new to this and I am not the most computer educated person. Can someone give me a suggestion or directions on how to correctly install the driver. I found the original cd that came with the wireless adapter, but it was damaged in a move. It shows the wireless usb adapter in the device manager but it contains no driver info.
The computer has a second edition windows 98 system. It also has a genuine Intel x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 3 127.0 MB ram (?).
Thanks,
Mike

What kind of Linksys USB Adapter is it? Most wireless devices now a days do not work on Windows 98.
