I am running XP Professional SP3. A few weeks back I had the fake Windows XP System Control (something like that) virus. In the process of cleaning it up, my Recycle Bin became corrupted.

Right now, the Recycle Bin icon shows on my desktop, but there is no text under it and if I right-click it, all that comes up is "Cut, Create Shortcut or Delete." There is no Empty, Properties, etc.

I suspect that something was damaged in my registry while removing the virus.

I have run MicroSoft's routine to restore the missing Recycle Bin to my desktop, but there is no change.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

That didn't work, but I found one farther down the page called "Replace/Repair the Recycle Bin in Windows XP" that did the trick.

Thanks for the cool link! I will bookmark it for future use.

I bookmarked the link to Kelleys-corner, but I can't access it. Do I need a password? Even the link directly from bleepingcomputer won't let me in any longer.

It works OK today. They must have had a website problem for awhile late last night.

Thanks for clarifying.
