To day was I to Hoogeveen in the Province Drenthe, Province Drenthe is a Province in north Netherland.
I was there for a view from my other house.
After that made I the back trip, I came in Amersfoort, that is a City in the Province Utrecht, I got in that City, a German Train: How nice.
The Train from Amersfoort brought me to Hilversum, nearly Hilversum, did I speak in my own language to the other person.
The man did let me know that he don't understand me what I told, so I ask him, are you an Englishman, he said yes.
I thought by myself, bleep what now, my English is not very well, so I thought by myself, I am here on Bleepingcomputer, the people here are in the most cases, English, when I have a question just now, than must I to do that in English.
When I doing this in Netherlands, than have I the warranty, that I get not answer, so I thought again, I give myself a change.
I spoke to the Englishman, English and I get the impress that he understand what I did mean.
I was little nervous that I make faults, now did I ask myself a question, when someone come in another country an he must speak a strange language, how does he feeling.

I agree with Pandy, it's not easy to try and speak another language,I remember when my sister was married to her ex-husband, he was in the military and they were stationed in Greece for 4 years, when she first got there she felt like she'd landed on the moon, she slowly began to pick up some of the greek language, her youngest daughter speek's fluent greek, but then she was born in Greece, she also speak's Japanese.
I speak english, and just a very little spanish, just enough to myself in trouble
I remember a few years ago, I had to transport a young man who only spoke and understood spanish, when i first got that assignment, my first thought was me yammo es mud(my name is mud
I really need to learn more spanish, because i just never know when i'm gonna have a child that speak's only spanish.
I also know some sign language( for the hearing impared )...but i need to brush up on it as well...
Ifd you don't use a particular languge everyday then you soon forget it, at this point i only remember enough sign language to tell my husband "not nice, enough, stop that.....

I'm not sure why but folks that live in Moscow approach me all the time to ask a question. So I have practiced to say the Russian equivalent " Please excuse me but I speak Russian little bit. I'm American". Sometimes they give me an angry scowl and others just smile and walk away. It makes me feel sad that I can't communicate better with them.
Here where I live we have a lot of Mexicans that don't speak English and they don't want to learn how either. They seem to proud to learn it and It makes me angry at times.
When I'm in Russia I just hope the people don't see me the same way as I look at the the proud Mexican here.
Sincerely;
Erik

Sometimes are there things what you as human must to do.
Spanish, Russian, French and Polish are difficult languages, it is more difficult than English.
What I find difficult in English is the Grammar.
The German language is difficult too, but in the German language there are lot of words what seems on Dutch.
I belief that I did tell this too: On Bleepingcomputer must you write English: I know that here on Bleepingcomputer there are also Moderators they can speak Dutch, but my opinion is: I must learn better English, why.? Well, I am single since 2000 and let I say that I am maybe over couple years still single, because it is difficult for find the right partner, I visit as a single person the Usa or another English country, I want something, than is there no one, they help me, if I don't say what I must tell.
So the fact that Bleepingcomputer does exist is a good job for me.
In my young years was I a Security man, there was a situation that at the moment that I was on my stack, a lot of people came to me and spoke English. I had an open mouth, I could not English.
But in the night that I was there in that Ship building, came a man to me and before I did know, was I with him speaking in English and I got from that man a
Look that moment is still in my mind and I don't forget that, so the thumbs up what I got, take I with me untill my time is come and I say bye.
What you have learned and in later years learn you new things, is a good Teacher for a human also type in a strange language.

Don't worry to much about the English grammar, I agree it is very difficult. Most Americans (myself included) can't speak with perfect grammar.
To quote my wife "We have to many unnecessary words in our language".

Si Si Senor Caintry_boy. That is all what I can say in Spanish. Oh yeah I forgotten, also can I say Gracias.
In the years 70 got I Spanish lessons and it is exact what you do mean, when you dont't use it, than you forgot.
With English is it so, the words what I must use are in my head, or in fact must I say, in my mind, but how I must to spell, I don't know all the time.
A forum member from pcPitstop were I had in the passed, connection, told me, you use the wrong words, well it is precisely what I tell, the words what I will use, I don't know how I must spell some words, when I must than looking for the right spelling, I forgot and than doing I wrong.
Why is that? Well, not enough experience with English.
When you speak a language just as Spanish or Deutch=German, Italian enough, than you don't forget, but when you don't use it or in my case, sometimes do you speak English, yeah than have a human trouble.
It is the same when a baby borned, that baby hear after few weeks the sound from his\her mom and dad, but the baby don't know what one of them tell; I belief that I have right what I now did tell, if I wrong, than I am sorry for my mistake.
Alright, mom and dad speak to their baby, the baby do hear all the time the sound from his\her parents and than when the baby grow up, he or she understand mom and dad, when the baby is not a baby anymore, he or she is than a little child, he or she goes to school, there learn the little child writing in his or her language.

Really Enriqe???
I am surprised, you know.
The people they were borned in the Usa and still live there: I suppose that they have learned their language.
When people move to the Usa, than is it little logical that they have trouble with English Grammar, but a real American that can not good the language, I am really surprised.
In English are lot of words with ing or ed and also make the English people the since different, but in my own language have we also lot of difficult words.
Yeah, but I grew up with Dutch and Dutch is regular for me.
But I am agree, that when I was moved to the Usa and I did live there for let we say; 5 years, I do know better, English is regular for me and when I did not speak Dutch or write, than I forgot how I must speak and write in Dutch.

@ Computer-man,
I know that grammer can get very confusing at times, here in the USA, it depends on which section of the country you were raised/live in,I grew up with a "Southern Dialect" which mean's that when speaking and writting, I tend to drop my "G's, words that mean the same thing can be spelled very differently, such as....the phrase "Are Not" in a southern dialect becomes the word "Ain't", Cannot becomes Can't or cain't
This is "Proper" Southern English(grammer)
Had I been raised (grew-up) say in the mid-west, then my grammer would be different.
I try to use "proper Grammer" when posting, but I am who I am, so more often then not i'm going (gonna) drop my "g''s and speak as it were in my natural dialect.
I hope this helps somewhat....

I got nearly a headache of that.
Dialect will be come in all countries, so also in my country.
The Netherlands has a Province Friesland, the Fries people speak and write their dialect, they don't want speak and write in correct Dutch.
So don't worry that you write different, it is in fact not important when you use dialect words.
It is important that people understand together, I understand you with what you did tell me and you and the others understand me, that is very very important.
Sometimes do I hear an American speaking Dutch, I have respect for that sort human, because: Your language is not so easy, other languages are not so easy, so my language can be sometimes difficult too and when I hear than that Dutch sound from an American, than say I
Speaking and writing in another language is the best medicine for learn, indeed.
