That Disk Check log is not the one you just did unless your systems clock is incorrect, look at the date.

Event ID: 1001
Date: 13/11/2011
Time: 12:43:44 PM

It is also not what I would expect to see after using the chkdsk /r command.

First check your system clock is showing the correct time and date, then look for an earlier entry for Winlogon in the Event Viewer.

I received your email stating you had posted the information I asked for but having found the thread you were relating to there is no post from you

Just post the information here and I will automatically receive email notification from BP.

If you cannot find the Disk Check log from the check you ran then please repeat the Disk Check and then locate and post the log. Make quite sure you enter the whole command chkdsk /r with a gap before the /

This log looks incomplete. When chkdsk /r is used it goes through five stages and should list them in the log, there is no sign of that and I can only guess you only typed in chkdsk without the /r extension in the command.

Try it again and copy and paste this at the Command Prompt:

chkdsk /r

Then find and post the resulting log.

Can you confirm where you downloaded Secunia PSI, was it from here:
Secunia PSI

One way to try and fix the uninstallation problem is to reinstall it from the above link.

Then go into Task Manager and stop the process from running. Then open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\Secunia\PSI, then with the contents of the PSI folder in view double click on the Uninstall icon and follow the prompts to remove it.

Hi Noknojon,

Thanks for you posting, I have succesffuly uninstalled PSI, and didn't take it any further, or that is, I went onto the Secunia Community Forum and didn't go any further in regards to unregistering ID. Is that what you were talking about? I did go into Regedit and deleted other Secunia stuff still there.

Regards

Sorry Mark,

I thought I had posted that I was able to uninstall PSI finally, I have no idea how I went about it, but after much mucking around I was able to finish it off by going into Regedit and removing left-over of Secunia.

As for the check disk, I remember if I added "space/r", I am positive that I did, but will give it another go now, and see what happens. I am sure I did, because the normal check disk after a failure takes awhile, but I did notice that when I did again this morning that it did the first check, and then when I returned to the computer it was doing another check, which at the time I thought was strange.

I have been doing all different types of cleanups on the computer and removing a lot of garbage still hanging around in the registry. As I checked through the "software" files I noticed a lot of old programmes still there and am wondering if they are part and parcel of some of the problems.

Well I am off now, and will type in "chkdsk /r" and see what will happen this time.

Regards

Hi Mark,

Yep, I must have done the check disk correctly before, because I have got the same result.

The chkdsk did two checks. The first one did a verification of files and folders on drive c FAT32 and then it did a verification of "free space". It only did two checks. I've attached the Winlog readout, and there were no other files I could copy or past. You did say that it is suppose to a number of checks, and all it did was these two checks.

Regards with thanks

Ok, looks like chkdsk must run a different check when used on a FAT32 file system which I have not seen before.

Don't be tempted to use a Registry Cleaner as that could easily make matters worse and be sure you have created a restore point before making any changes to the registry in case something goes wrong.

This tool will backup the entire registry http://erunt.en.softonic.com/

So, how is the PC's performance now, please describe what symptoms remain.
