I need help, I'm running Windows Vista and my problem is I bought a USB sound card for my computer to run my police scanner. I tried plugging my headphones into the headphone jack but go no sound. I tried the back of my PC tower and got the same problem. It will only work when I plug it into USB sound card. Can anyone help me getting my headphones to work without disturbing the scanner since its online to host a feed.

Thank You

I occasionally use a USB sound card (in my case, to get an optical output) on my computer, running XP. Whenever I connect the USB sound card the onboard audio is cut off. I can toggle back and forth between the two outputs using the Control Panel, but it doesn't give me the option to use both outputs simultaneously. I think this is normal operation.

It sounds like you want to run one audio stream to the USB card and a second audio stream to the onboard audio. I don't know if there is any way to force the computer to use two different active audio outputs.

If anyone knows of a way to do this I'd like to know, too.
