When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

If you have not received help after three days, please post a link to your topic HERE.

I had a trojan that caused everything to be hidden. I used an AVG bootable to remove the trojan and followed a forum topic from you guys on how to unhide all my files. I really only seem to have lost one file, my pictures, and now I have google redirect and sometimes a "Line" error.

Edit: Moved topic from Windows 7 to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Hit your windows key + r to open up the run dialog box.

Type this string in:

"C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts"

When it prompts you with what program to open the file with, choose notepad.

You should see this:

# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
#	127.0.0.1 localhost
#	::1             localhost

If it has any additional entries, this is what is causing your redirect.

If it is infected, select all and remove, then paste the above into your hosts file, save, and reboot.

Additionally, Open up internet explorer, and go to tools -> internet options -> connections tab -> LAN settings button and ensure that "Automatically Detect Settings" is the only checkbox that's ticked.
