I'm wondering why my download speeds never exceed 1.4 MB/s; it seems as if it is capped at that point. My reasoning behind that is that when downloading from a strong source, my download speed with explode and suddenly stop at 1.4 MB/s. Any reason why this might be? Is this normal for my setup?
Examples include downloading a game from Steam: 1.4 MB/s max. Downloading through Vuze: 1.4 MB/s max (I'm all port forwarded and everything). Downloading from Microsoft, or another high download-speed website: never exceeds 1.4 MB/s.
Running off my desktop with an N adapter, and connected to a G network. I don't recall ever exceeding 1.4 MB/s
Thanks for any info/ideas!
Alex

All ISP connections are sold and rated by a maximum speed. From your speed I would guess you are using DSL? The only way to get more bandwidth is to contact your ISP and move to a plan that offers more bandwidth.

I'm running with ATT and they have a 12 megabit/s monthly package (= 1.5 mega bytes) so no doubt that is the reason. Thanks for the reply
